Sir '''Richard Percy''' (died 1648) was an English soldier who served in Ireland during the 1590s.<ref>Falls p.216</ref>

He was part of the [Percy Family](/source/House_of_Percy), the son of [Henry Percy, 8th Earl of Northumberland](/source/Henry_Percy%2C_8th_Earl_of_Northumberland) and younger brother of [Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland](/source/Henry_Percy%2C_9th_Earl_of_Northumberland).

Following the outbreak of [Tyrone's Rebellion](/source/Tyrone's_Rebellion) in Ireland, he raised a regiment, of which the majority were drawn from [Wales](/source/Wales), to supplement the under-strength [Irish Army](/source/Irish_Army_(Kingdom_of_Ireland)). The regiment was badly mauled during the [Battle of the Yellow Ford](/source/Battle_of_the_Yellow_Ford) in 1598 when, as the [advance guard](/source/advance_guard) of the relief expedition to a besieged fort on the [River Blackwater](/source/River_Blackwater_(Northern_Ireland)), they were attacked by [Hugh O'Neill, Earl of Tyrone](/source/Hugh_O'Neill%2C_Earl_of_Tyrone)'s rebel forces. Percy's regiment suffered heavy losses in what amounted to a major defeat in which the [Marshal of Ireland](/source/Earl_Marshal_of_Ireland), Sir [Henry Bagenal](/source/Henry_Bagenal), was killed.
