Gozney became Head of Chancery and Political Section in [Madrid](/source/Madrid) in 1984, [Private Secretary](/source/Private_Secretary) to the [Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs](/source/Secretary_of_State_for_Foreign_and_Commonwealth_Affairs) in 1989 and British [High Commissioner](/source/High_Commissioner) to [Swaziland](/source/Swaziland) in 1993.
