**Richard Foss** is an American [journalist](/source/Journalist), [science fiction author](/source/List_of_science_fiction_authors), and food historian who has also chaired science fiction conventions and worked as a [travel agent](/source/Travel_agency), restaurant reviewer, theater director, and instructor in Elizabethan history and culinary history at Osher Institute/UCLA Extension.

## Writing career

Foss's science fiction stories have been published in the magazine *[Analog](/source/Analog_Science_Fiction_and_Fact)* and the anthologies *[Alternate Generals II](/source/Alternate_Generals_II)* and *[The Enchanter Completed: A Tribute Anthology for L. Sprague de Camp](/source/The_Enchanter_Completed%3A_A_Tribute_Anthology_for_L._Sprague_de_Camp)*.
