**Richard Elson** (born 1962) is a [British](/source/British_people) [comic book](/source/Comic_book) [artist](/source/Artist) best known for his work on *[Sonic the Comic](/source/Sonic_the_Comic)*, *[2000 AD](/source/2000_AD_(comics))* and *[Thor](/source/Thor_(Marvel_Comics))*.

## Biography

Richard Elson is a fine art graduate with over sixteen years experience as an artist and illustrator.

His versatility has found a wide variety of outlets in a career that has included extended runs on *Sonic the Comic* and Britain's premier science-fiction [anthology](/source/Comics_anthology) *2000 AD*. He has contributed to many of the comics published in the UK over recent years, including *[The Beano](/source/The_Beano)* (drawing [Billy The Cat](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Billy_The_Cat&action=edit&redlink=1) in 2003, and also [Tim Traveller](/source/Tim_Traveller) in that year's *[The Beano Annual](/source/The_Beano_Annual)*), *Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles*, *Toxic Crusaders*[1] and [Panini Comics](/source/Panini_Comics)' UK title *[Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures](/source/The_Spectacular_Spider-Man#UK_title)*.

His first [Marvel Comics](/source/Marvel_Comics) work was *[Marvel Zombies Return](/source/Marvel_Zombies_Return): [Hulk](/source/Hulk)*, with *[Pride and Prejudice and Zombies](/source/Pride_and_Prejudice_and_Zombies)* [Seth Grahame-Smith](/source/Seth_Grahame-Smith).[2] He subsequently illustrated issues of *[Thor](/source/Thor_(Marvel_Comics))* and *[Journey Into Mystery](/source/Journey_Into_Mystery)* during [Kieron Gillen](/source/Kieron_Gillen)'s run writing the titles, and is currently the launch artist on a new series of *[Morbius, the Living Vampire](/source/Morbius)*.

He has also worked for computer games companies, toy manufacturers and UK television show *This Morning*.[1]

### Personal life

Elson lives in the UK, with his wife and two children, in the cathedral city of Worcester.[1]
