Richard Curwin was born on May 25, 1944, in [Cambridge, Massachusetts](/source/Cambridge%2C_Massachusetts), and grew up in [Brookline, Massachusetts](/source/Brookline%2C_Massachusetts), where he attended [Brookline High School](/source/Brookline_High_School). He received his B.A. in English at [University of Massachusetts Amherst](/source/University_of_Massachusetts_Amherst).
