# Richard Collin

**Richard Collin** (1626, [Luxembourg](/source/Luxembourg) – 1698, [Brussels](/source/Brussels)), was an engraver from Luxembourg.

## Biography

According to the RKD he was a pupil of [Joachim von Sandrart](/source/Joachim_von_Sandrart) in Rome, and became a master in the Antwerp [Guild of St. Luke](/source/Guild_of_St._Luke) in 1650–1651.[1] He worked in Rome and in Antwerp, and is known for portraits he engraved for [Cornelis de Bie](/source/Cornelis_de_Bie)'s book of artists called [Het Gulden Cabinet](/source/Het_Gulden_Cabinet).[1] In the 1660s he took on pupils, and in 1678 he moved to Brussels and became the court engraver for [Charles II of Spain](/source/Charles_II_of_Spain).[1] His engraving of [Christina, Queen of Sweden](/source/Christina,_Queen_of_Sweden) is held in the [Victoria and Albert](/source/Victoria_and_Albert_Museum) Museum.[2]
