**Richard Assheton** (by 1529 – 1579), of Whalley and Downham, Lancashire, was an English politician.

He was a [Member](/source/Member_of_Parliament) (MP) of the [Parliament of England](/source/Parliament_of_England) for [Aldborough](/source/Aldborough_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) in 1559 and for [Carlisle](/source/Carlisle_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) in 1558 and 1563.[1]
