Ryerson, brother to [Rob Ryerson](/source/Rob_Ryerson), attended [Oakland Mills High School](/source/Oakland_Mills_High_School). In 1993, Ryerson was with the [Los Angeles Heat](/source/Los_Angeles_Heat) of the APSL. In 1995, he moved to the [Washington Warthogs](/source/Washington_Warthogs) before ending the season back with the Grizzlies. In 1996, he played for the [Indianapolis Twisters](/source/Indianapolis_Twisters). At the end of the season, the Twisters were renamed the [Indiana Twisters](/source/Indiana_Twisters). Ryerson began the season with Indiana, but suffered a concussion after only two games. In July, the Twisters traded him and [Terry Rowe](/source/Terry_Rowe) to the [Anaheim Splash](/source/Anaheim_Splash) in exchange for [Paul McDonnell](/source/Paul_McDonnell) and a 1998 first-round draft pick. Beginning in 1994, Ryerson served as an athletic director and physical education teacher for various schools in [Rancho Mirage, California](/source/Rancho_Mirage%2C_California), namely [Marywood-Palm Valley School](/source/Marywood-Palm_Valley_School).
