***Rhysotoechia*** is a [genus](/source/Genus) of plants in the soapberry family [Sapindaceae](/source/Sapindaceae) which is native to parts of [Malesia](/source/Malesia) and [Australia](/source/Australia).

## Taxonomy

The genus was created in 1879 by the Bavarian-born botanist [Ludwig Adolph Timotheus Radlkofer](/source/Ludwig_Adolph_Timotheus_Radlkofer).[3] The [type species](/source/Type_(biology)#In_botany) is *Rhysotoechia mortoniana*, based on *Cupania mortoniana* .[4]

## Distribution and habitat

Species in this genus inhabit [rainforest](/source/Rainforest) or rainforest margins, from [Borneo](/source/Borneo) east to [New Guinea](/source/New_Guinea), and from the [Philippines](/source/Philippines) south to eastern [Australia](/source/Australia).[4][5][6]
