**Rhipe** (Ancient Greek: Ῥίπη) was a city in [ancient Arcadia](/source/Ancient_Arcadia). It was mentioned by [Homer](/source/Homer) in the [Catalogue of Ships](/source/Catalogue_of_Ships) of the *[Iliad](/source/Iliad)* as one of the Arcadian cities that participated in the [Trojan War](/source/Trojan_War), led by general [Agapenor](/source/Agapenor).[1] Even in antiquity its location was unknown.[2] The ancient belief that it was situated on an island in the river [Ladon](/source/Ladon_(river)) was dismissed by [Pausanias](/source/Pausanias_(geographer)).[3]
