Stone was born in [Elizabeth, New Jersey](/source/Elizabeth%2C_New_Jersey) to soul and jazz singer Joanne Stone.<ref name="bustle">{{cite web |url= https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/who-is-rhashan-stone |work= bustle.com |title= Fans Of Keeping Faith Will Definitely Recognise Hollington Drive's Rhashan Stone |date= September 29, 2021 |access-date=November 12, 2023}}</ref> When he was six years old, his mother married the British singer/songwriter Russell Stone, and they moved to the UK to live with him.<ref name="bustle"/> Together, his mother and stepfather formed the singing duo [R&J Stone](/source/R%26J_Stone).<ref name="bustle"/> His aunt [Madeline Bell](/source/Madeline_Bell) was also involved in the music industry and became the lead singer for [Blue Mink](/source/Blue_Mink). When Stone was 11, his mother died from a brain tumor.<ref name="bustle"/> In later years, he studied acting at the [Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts](/source/Mountview_Academy_of_Theatre_Arts).<ref name="bustle"/> Stone is a classically trained singer, musician and composer of jazz, soul and gospel music.<ref name="bustle"/>
