# Rezin Beall

[Brigadier General](/source/Brigadier_General) **Rezin Beall** (1723–1809)[3][self-published source?] was appointed commander of [Maryland](/source/Maryland)'s [Flying Camp](/source/Flying_Camp) militia by the [United States Congress](/source/United_States_Congress).[4][5]

## Career

On 17 July 1776, Captain Beall was wounded in action on [St. George Island, Maryland](/source/St._George_Island,_Maryland) in a battle resisting efforts of British forces under the command of [John Murray, 4th Earl of Dunmore](/source/John_Murray,_4th_Earl_of_Dunmore) to land on the mainland in Maryland.[6]

He is buried at [St. John's Episcopal Church](/source/St._John's_Episcopal_Church,_Zion_Parish) in [Beltsville, Maryland](/source/Beltsville,_Maryland).
