A '''result''' (also called '''upshot''') is the outcome or consequence of a [sequence](/source/sequence) of actions or events.<ref name=":0">{{Cite book |title=Oxford Dictionary of English |date=2015 |publisher=[Oxford University Press](/source/Oxford_University_Press) |isbn=9780199571123 |edition=3rd |chapter=result}}</ref> Possible results include [gain](/source/Gain_(accounting)), [injury](/source/injury), [value](/source/Value_(economics)), and [victory](/source/victory). == Description ==
A result is the final consequence of a [sequence](/source/sequence) of actions or events expressed [qualitatively](/source/Qualitative_property) or [quantitatively](/source/Quantitative_property). There may be a range of possible outcomes associated with an event depending on the [point of view](/source/Point_of_view_(philosophy)), historical distance or relevance. Reaching no result can mean that actions are inefficient, ineffective, meaningless or flawed.
