The '''Research Range''' ({{langx|ru|Исследовательский хребет}}) is a mountain range at the northern end of the [Ural Mountains](/source/Ural_Mountains). It extends north of the [Arctic Circle](/source/Arctic_Circle), and forms the border between the [Komi Republic](/source/Komi_Republic) and the [Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug](/source/Khanty%E2%80%93Mansi_Autonomous_Okrug). The Research Range is 175 km long and the highest point is [Mount Narodnaya](/source/Mount_Narodnaya) (Гора Народная) or People's Mountain, at 1,894 m.

The Research Range starts approximately at Mount Narodnaya and runs northeastward past [Vorkuta](/source/Vorkuta) almost to the [Kara Sea](/source/Kara_Sea) and the [Arctic Ocean](/source/Arctic_Ocean). The primary rocks are [metamorphic](/source/Metamorphic_rock), mostly [quartzite](/source/quartzite)s and [slate](/source/slate). There are numerous glaciers near the tops and on the upper slopes of the mountains, the rest is mostly arctic desert and [tundra](/source/tundra). In the foothills and steep river valleys, there is some [taiga](/source/taiga) forest.<ref>* [http://slovari.yandex.ru/%D0%98%D1%81%D1%81%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9%20%D1%85%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B1%D0%B5%D1%82/%D0%91%D0%A1%D0%AD/%D0%98%D1%81%D1%81%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B9%20%D1%85%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B1%D0%B5%D1%82/ "Исследовательский хребет"]''[Great Soviet Encyclopedia](/source/Great_Soviet_Encyclopedia)'' {{in lang|ru}}</ref>
