The '''Reporter of Decisions''' (sometimes known by other titles, such as '''Official Reporter''' or '''State Reporter''') is the official responsible for publishing the decisions of a [court](/source/court). Traditionally, the decisions were published in books known as case reporters or [law reports](/source/law_reports). In recent years, the reporter's duties have been broadened in many jurisdictions to include publication through electronic media.

In the [United States](/source/United_States), the most prominent Reporter of Decisions is the [Reporter of Decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States](/source/Reporter_of_Decisions_of_the_Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States), an officer of the [Supreme Court of the United States](/source/Supreme_Court_of_the_United_States), responsible for reporting the decisions of that court in the official report volumes, known as the ''[United States Reports](/source/United_States_Reports)''. In contrast, the [United States courts of appeals](/source/United_States_courts_of_appeals) have not historically appointed official reporters of decisions, relying instead on the private company [West Publishing](/source/West_(publisher)) to report appellate decisions in its ''[Federal Reporter](/source/Federal_Reporter)'' series.<ref name="Domnarski1996">{{cite book|author=William Domnarski|title=In the Opinion of the Court|url=https://archive.org/details/inopinionofcourt0000domn|url-access=registration|year=1996|publisher=University of Illinois Press|isbn=978-0-252-06556-9|pages=[https://archive.org/details/inopinionofcourt0000domn/page/22 22]–23}}</ref>

In many jurisdictions, older collections of case reports are known by the name of the reporter who served during the time when they were collected.
