As a commune, Renca is a third-level [administrative division of Chile](/source/administrative_division_of_Chile) administered by a [municipal council](/source/municipal_council), headed by an [alcalde](/source/alcalde) who is directly elected every four years. The 2024-2028 mayor is [Claudio Castro](/source/Claudio_Castro) (Ind). The communal council has the following members:
