# Reidar Sundby

Norwegian footballer (1926–2014)

**Reidar Sundby** (17 October 1926 – 27 October 2014) was a Norwegian footballer who played as a [forward](/source/Forward_(association_football)).

He started his career in Stag, and joined [Larvik Turn](/source/Larvik_Turn) in 1952. With his team he won the [1952–53 Norwegian Main League](/source/1952%E2%80%9353_Norwegian_Main_League), the [1954–55 Norwegian Main League](/source/1954%E2%80%9355_Norwegian_Main_League) and the [1955–56 Norwegian Main League](/source/1955%E2%80%9356_Norwegian_Main_League)—and became top goalscorer in the [1958–59 Norwegian Main League](/source/1958%E2%80%9359_Norwegian_Main_League). He scored 71 goals in 110 first-tier games for Larvik Turn.[1]

He was [capped](/source/Cap_(football)) once for [Norway](/source/Norway_national_football_team), in 1954, and scored in the game against [Sweden](/source/Sweden_men's_national_football_team). He later coached Stag.[1][2]

He died in October 2014.[1] He was the father of [Tom Sundby](/source/Tom_Sundby).
