He has formerly played in the [American Hockey League](/source/American_Hockey_League) (AHL).

==Playing career==
McNeill played major junior hockey in the [Ontario Hockey League](/source/Ontario_Hockey_League) with the [London Knights](/source/London_Knights) and the [Barrie Colts](/source/Barrie_Colts). He was selected in the sixth-round, 170th overall, in the [2010 NHL entry draft](/source/2010_NHL_entry_draft) by the [Pittsburgh Penguins](/source/Pittsburgh_Penguins). He added two goals for the Checkers in the playoffs through 7 games.

In the [2018–19](/source/2018%E2%80%9319_Austrian_Hockey_League_season) season, McNeill ventured into his first professional abroad, playing in the [Austrian Hockey League](/source/Austrian_Hockey_League) (EBEL) with the [Dornbirn Bulldogs](/source/Dornbirn_Bulldogs). In his lone year in Austria, McNeill provided a steady influence on the blueline, contributing with 11 points in 46 games.
