**Reid Bay** is an [Arctic](/source/Arctic) waterway in the [Qikiqtaaluk Region](/source/Qikiqtaaluk_Region), [Nunavut](/source/Nunavut), Canada. It is located in [Davis Strait](/source/Davis_Strait) off [Baffin Island](/source/Baffin_Island)'s [Cumberland Sound](/source/Cumberland_Sound).

## Geography

The [habitat](/source/Habitat) is characterized by open sea, inlets, coastal marine features, coastal cliffs, rocky marine shores, scree, and boulders. Its coastal elevation rises up to 800 m (2,600 ft) [above sea level](/source/Height_above_mean_sea_level).[2]

## Fauna

The uninhabited bay area is a Canadian [Important Bird Area](/source/Important_Bird_Area) (NU072),[2] and [International Biological Program](/source/International_Biological_Program) site (Region 9, Site 7–9). Notable bird species include: [black-legged kittiwake](/source/Black-legged_kittiwake), [colonial](/source/Bird_colony) [water birds](/source/Water_bird) / [seabirds](/source/Seabird), [glaucous gull](/source/Glaucous_gull), [Iceland gull](/source/Iceland_gull), [northern fulmar](/source/Northern_fulmar), and [thick-billed murre](/source/Thick-billed_murre).[3]

The former Reid Bay [Key Migratory Bird Terrestrial Habitat site](/source/Key_Habitat_Site) has been renamed [Akpait National Wildlife Area](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Akpait_National_Wildlife_Area&action=edit&redlink=1) ([66°53′42″N 61°45′18″W / 66.895°N 61.755°W / 66.895; -61.755 (Akpait National Wildlife Area)](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Reid_Bay&params=66.895_N_61.755_W_type:landmark_scale:500000_region:CA-NU&title=Akpait+National+Wildlife+Area)[2]), coinciding with its location at [Akapit Fiord](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Akapit_Fiord&action=edit&redlink=1).[4]
