American novelist

**Reggie Nadelson** is an American [novelist](/source/Novelist), known for writing [mystery novels](/source/Mystery_novel).[1]

## Early life

She was born and raised in [Greenwich Village](/source/Greenwich_Village) in [Manhattan](/source/Manhattan), [New York](/source/New_York_(state)). After graduating from [City and Country School](/source/City_and_Country_School) and [Elisabeth Irwin High School](/source/Elisabeth_Irwin_High_School) in Greenwich Village, she majored in English at [Vassar College](/source/Vassar_College), and then earned a graduate degree in journalism at [Stanford](/source/Stanford).[2] Nadelson was raised in a secular Jewish family and describes herself as such today.[3] She has reported on secular Jewish culture in America for the BBC radio show, *[From Our Own Correspondent](/source/From_Our_Own_Correspondent)*.[4]

## Career

She migrated to [London](/source/London) for *[The Guardian](/source/The_Guardian)* newspaper, and subsequently *[The Independent](/source/The_Independent)*. She also began writing documentaries for the [BBC](/source/BBC).[5] She has also contributed to the United States magazine *[Vogue](/source/Vogue_(magazine))*, as well as several other [London](/source/London)-based newspapers and magazines.

In 1995, she created *[Artie Cohen](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Artie_Cohen&action=edit&redlink=1)*, a Russian-born, New York City cop around whom most of her novels would be based.[6]

[Tom Hanks](/source/Tom_Hanks) has optioned Nadelson's [Dean Reed](/source/Dean_Reed) biography *[Comrade Rockstar](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comrade_Rockstar&action=edit&redlink=1)* and is planning to produce a movie on Reed's life.[7]

## Personal life
