# Reganella

***Reganella*** is a [monospecific genus](/source/Monospecific_genus) of freshwater [ray-finned fish](/source/Actinopterygii) belonging to the [family](/source/Family_(taxonomy)) [Loricariidae](/source/Loricariidae), the suckermouth armored catfishes, and the [subfamily](/source/Subfamily) [Loricariinae](/source/Loricariinae), the mailed catfishes.[1] The only species in this genus is ***Reganella depressa***.[2] *R. depressa* is a poorly known species and uncommon in collections. Its phylogenetic position remains uncertain.[2]

This species is [endemic](/source/Endemism) to [Brazil](/source/Brazil) where it occurs in the middle [Amazon basin](/source/Amazon_basin), including the [Negro](/source/Rio_Negro_(Amazon)), [Tapajos](/source/Tapajos_River), and [Branco Rivers](/source/Branco_River).[2][3] *R. depressa* probably inhabits sandy substrates with flowing waters.[2] *R. depressa* reaches a length of 11.3 centimetres (4.4 in) [SL](/source/Fish_measurement).[3]
