'''Regan Matthew King''' (born 2 October 1980) is a New Zealand [rugby union](/source/rugby_union) player who plays as a centre. He currently plays for [Mid Canterbury](/source/Mid_Canterbury_Rugby_Football_Union) in the [Heartland Championship](/source/Heartland_Championship) and [Neath RFC](/source/Neath_RFC) in the [Welsh Premier Division](/source/Welsh_Premier_Division). He holds a British passport thanks to his British-born father, Paul King.
==Career==
After finishing school at [Cambridge High School](/source/Cambridge_High_School_(New_Zealand)), King played for local rugby club Hautapu and was selected to play for Waikato in 2001{{Citation needed|date=October 2017}}. After playing for [Waikato](/source/Waikato_Rugby_Union) and the [Chiefs](/source/Chiefs_(Super_rugby_franchise)), he made his first and only Test appearance on 23 November 2002 against [Wales](/source/Wales_national_rugby_union_team) at the [Millennium Stadium](/source/Millennium_Stadium) in [Cardiff](/source/Cardiff). Following this, King suffered several injuries hindering the progress of his career in New Zealand and taking him out of the [NPC](/source/National_Provincial_Championship_(1976%E2%80%932005)) and [Super 12](/source/Super_12). After recovering, King was recruited by [Stade Français](/source/Stade_Fran%C3%A7ais) in November 2004.
After an unsuccessful six months in France, he moved to Wales to play for the [Llanelli Scarlets](/source/Scarlets).
In 2006, he was voted the best outside centre in the world by readers of [http://www.planet-rugby.com/News/story_56074.shtml Planet-Rugby.com] for their 2006 World XV. King was the only one of the players voted into the side that had not played any international rugby in the preceding 12 months.

King's sister, [Joelle](/source/Joelle_King), is a professional [squash](/source/Squash_(sport)) player who won [Commonwealth Games](/source/Commonwealth_Games) gold medals in the doubles competition in [2010](/source/2010_Commonwealth_Games) and the singles competition in [2018](/source/2018_Commonwealth_Games).
