# Raymonde Allain

**Raymonde Allain** (22 June 1912 – 27 July 2008) was a French [model](/source/Model_(people)) and [actress](/source/Actress).[1] She was [Miss France](/source/Miss_France) in 1928.[2] Her participation in the [Miss Universe](/source/1928_International_Pageant_of_Pulchritude) contest drew international media attention,[3] and her controversial loss to American [Ella Van Hueson](/source/Ella_Van_Hueson) prompted critical dispute over what counted as "real beauty".[4] Allain later wrote an autobiography titled *Histoire vraie d'un prix de beauté*.
