Raydale

**Raydale** (also known as *Raydaleside*)[1] is a [dale](/source/Dale_(landform)) on the south side of [Wensleydale](/source/Wensleydale) in [North Yorkshire](/source/North_Yorkshire), England. The northern part of the dale is the valley of the [River Bain](/source/River_Bain%2C_North_Yorkshire), which flows out of [Semerwater](/source/Semerwater), one of very few lakes in the [Yorkshire Dales](/source/Yorkshire_Dales). Above the lake the dale is drained by smaller [becks](/source/Beck_(stream)), and is joined by two smaller dales, Cragdale on the east and Bardale on the west.

There are three hamlets in the dale, [Countersett](/source/Countersett), [Marsett](/source/Marsett) and [Stalling Busk](/source/Stalling_Busk). The village of [Bainbridge](/source/Bainbridge%2C_North_Yorkshire) lies at the mouth of the dale.[2]

The dale is a broad, flat-bottomed [U-shaped valley](/source/U-shaped_valley), with a significant woodland cover around Semerwater and the other water courses.[3]
