He played in the [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) with the [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs) and [Chicago Black Hawks](/source/Chicago_Black_Hawks) between 1948 and 1955.

Timgren was born in [Windsor, Ontario](/source/Windsor%2C_Ontario) and started his [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) career with the [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs) in [1949](/source/1948%E2%80%9349_NHL_season). He also played for the [Chicago Black Hawks](/source/Chicago_Black_Hawks). He left the NHL after the [1954–55](/source/1954%E2%80%9355_NHL_season) season. He played for the [Pittsburgh Hornets](/source/Pittsburgh_Hornets) of the [American Hockey League](/source/American_Hockey_League) in [1956](/source/1955%E2%80%9356_AHL_season) before retiring from hockey. He won the [Stanley Cup](/source/Stanley_Cup) twice with the [Toronto Maple Leafs](/source/Toronto_Maple_Leafs), in [1949](/source/1949_Stanley_Cup_Finals) and [1951](/source/1951_Stanley_Cup_Finals).

==Personal life==
In the 1960s he was teaching with the North York Board of Education, and in 1964 was a vice principal at Sloane Ave Public School. "Do it now!" was one of his favorite sayings and he never put off what he could now! Ray was also Principal at Mallow Road Public School in Don Mills in the late 1960s - 1970s and then at Glen Rush Public School.
