'''Raymond Peter Allison''' (born March 4, 1959) is a Canadian former professional [ice hockey](/source/ice_hockey) forward who played seven seasons in the [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) for the [Hartford Whalers](/source/Hartford_Whalers) and [Philadelphia Flyers](/source/Philadelphia_Flyers). He featured in the [1985 Stanley Cup Final](/source/1985_Stanley_Cup_Final) with the Flyers.

Allison was born in [Cranbrook, British Columbia](/source/Cranbrook%2C_British_Columbia).

==Playing career==
Following a phenomenal junior career, Allison became the first-ever draft pick in the history of the Hartford Whalers/[Carolina Hurricanes](/source/Carolina_Hurricanes) franchise. He was expected to be a franchise player but failed to impress during his rookie season. A year later, Allison was traded in a ten-player deal to Philadelphia. There he would develop into a scoring forward but suffered a broken ankle during the [1982–83 season](/source/1982%E2%80%9383_NHL_season). He never regained a regular spot on the Flyers roster and played his last few seasons in the [AHL](/source/American_Hockey_League) and Swiss leagues.<ref>{{cite web |title=FORMER WHEAT KING GREAT RAY ALLISON – Brandon Wheat Kings |url=https://wheatkings.com/former-wheat-king-great-ray-allison/ |website=Brandon Wheat Kings |access-date=May 27, 2022 |date=March 23, 2016}}</ref>
