The **Rangrang Line** is a non-electrified freight-only [railway](/source/Railway) line of the [Korean State Railway](/source/Korean_State_Railway) in [Ryŏkp'o-guyŏk](/source/Ryokpo-guyok) and [Rangrang-guyŏk](/source/Rakrang-guyok), [P'yŏngyang](/source/Pyongyang), [North Korea](/source/North_Korea), running from [Ryŏkp'o](/source/Ryokpo_Station) on the [P'yŏngbu Line](/source/Pyongbu_Line) to [Rangrang](/source/Rangrang_Station),[1]

## History

The Rangrang Line was opened in 1989 to assist with the construction of the [East P'yŏngyang Thermal Power Plant](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=East_Pyongyang_Thermal_Power_Plant&action=edit&redlink=1) that began that year;[2] since then, the line is used to supply the power plant with coal.
