Jessup attended [Bethel University](/source/Bethel_University_(Minnesota)), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in pre-engineering. He later attended the [University of Minnesota](/source/University_of_Minnesota), graduating with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and later a Master of Business Administration in marketing.<ref name="ml_20170601" />

Jessup was an executive for [Pillsbury](/source/Pillsbury_Company), [Quaker Oats](/source/Quaker_Oats_Company), and [Ecolab](/source/Ecolab). He owns four [UPS](/source/United_Parcel_Service) stores.
