**Random Sound West**, previously known as **Hillview-Adeytown-Hatchet Cove-St. Jones Within**,[2] is a [local service district](/source/Local_service_district_(Newfoundland_and_Labrador)) and [designated place](/source/Designated_place) in the [Canadian province](/source/Provinces_and_territories_of_Canada) of [Newfoundland and Labrador](/source/Newfoundland_and_Labrador).

## Geography

Random Sound West is in [Newfoundland](/source/Newfoundland_(island)) within [Subdivision M](/source/Division_No._7,_Subdivision_M,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador) of [Division No. 7](/source/Division_No._7,_Newfoundland_and_Labrador).[3]

## Demographics

As a designated place in the [2016 Census of Population](/source/Canada_2016_Census) conducted by [Statistics Canada](/source/Statistics_Canada), Hillview-Adeytown-Hatchet Cove-St. Jones Within (now Random Sound West) recorded a population of 436 living in 198 of its 261 total private dwellings, a change of -0.46% from its 2011 population of 438. With a land area of 29.96 km2 (11.57 sq mi), it had a population density of in 2016.[4]

## Government

Random Sound West is a local service district (LSD)[5] that is governed by a committee responsible for the provision of certain services to the community.[6] The chair of the LSD committee is Robert Gammon.[5]
