'''Ramiel''' ({{langx|arc|רַעַמְאֵל}}, {{langx|he|רַעַמְאֵל}} ''Raʿamʾēl''; {{langx|el|Ῥαμιήλ}}) is a fallen [Watcher angel](/source/Watcher_(angel)). He is mentioned in Chapter 6 of the [apocryphal](/source/Jewish_apocrypha) [Book of Enoch](/source/Book_of_Enoch) as one of the 19 Watchers that sinned and rebelled against God by mating with human women and creating offspring called [Nephilim](/source/Nephilim).

The name Raʿamʾēl means "[God](/source/God) has thundered"<ref>{{Cite web |title=Strong's Hebrew Concordance - 7481. raam |url=https://biblehub.com/hebrew/7481.htm}}</ref><ref>The Ethiopic Book Of Enoch., Knibb, Michael A., Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1978, repr. 1982.</ref> from the Hebrew elements ''Raʿam'' "thunder" and ''El'', "God".

He is sometimes conflated with the angel '''Remiel''' (described below), who is separately named as a holy angel in some versions of Chapter 2 of the Book of Enoch, and who is in turn sometimes conflated with the angel [Jeremiel](/source/Jerahmeel_(archangel)) (''q.v.'').

== Watcher ==
There are 20 Watchers in the [Book of Enoch](/source/Book_of_Enoch), also called 1 Enoch. The section that mentions them reads:

{{Cquote|''7. And these are the names of their watchers: [Sêmîazâz](/source/Samyaza), their leader, [Arâkîba](/source/Arakiel), Râmêêl, [Kôkabîêl](/source/Kokabiel), [Tâmîêl](/source/Tamiel), Râmîêl, [Dânêl](/source/Daniel_(angel)), [Êzêqêêl](/source/Chazaqiel), [Barâqîjâl](/source/Baraqiel), [Asâêl](/source/Azazel), [Armârôs](/source/Armaros), [Batârêl](/source/Batariel), [Anânêl](/source/Ananiel), [Zaqîêl](/source/Zaqiel), [Samsâpêêl](/source/Shamsiel), [Sathariel](/source/Satariel), [Tûrêl](/source/Turiel), [Jômjâêl](/source/Yomiel), [Sariêl](/source/Sariel). 8. These are their chiefs of tens.''" - [R. H. Charles](/source/R._H._Charles) translation, ''The Book of the Watchers'', Chapter VI.
}}

As described in 1 Enoch, these are the leaders of 200 [angel](/source/angel)s that are turned into [fallen angel](/source/fallen_angel)s due to their taking wives, mating with human women, and teaching forbidden knowledge. Of 20 leaders, Ramiel is mentioned sixth.

Remiel is the archangel of [hope](/source/hope) and credited with two tasks: he is responsible for divine visions, and he guides the souls of the faithful into [Heaven](/source/Heaven).
