To English-speaking audiences, he is best known for portraying [Werner Ziegler](/source/Werner_Ziegler_(Better_Call_Saul)) in the fourth season of the [AMC](/source/AMC_(TV_channel)) television series ''[Better Call Saul](/source/Better_Call_Saul)''.

==Early life and education==
Bock was born in [Kiel](/source/Kiel), Germany.<ref>[http://www.bayerischesstaatsschauspiel.de/personen/personen.php?cat=show&id=17 Rainer Bock] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110718201655/http://www.bayerischesstaatsschauspiel.de/personen/personen.php?cat=show&id=17 |date=2011-07-18 }} at the Bavarian State Theatre</ref> After graduating from school, he ran a café in his hometown, where there was also a cabaret programme. After studying acting at a private drama school in Kiel, Bock made his debut in 1982 as a theatre actor on the stages of Kiel.

==Career==
He had already worked as a stage actor for about 25 years, beginning in 1982, in Kiel, at the [National Theatre Mannheim](/source/National_Theatre_Mannheim), the [Staatstheater Stuttgart](/source/Staatstheater_Stuttgart), and at the Bavarian State Theatre in [Munich](/source/Munich), before his film work increased by the end of the 2000s. In 2011, four films in which he acted were presented at the [61st Berlin International Film Festival](/source/61st_Berlin_International_Film_Festival).

Bock appeared in internationally known films directed by [Steven Spielberg](/source/Steven_Spielberg), [Quentin Tarantino](/source/Quentin_Tarantino) and [Michael Haneke](/source/Michael_Haneke), and played minor roles in the TV shows ''[Homeland](/source/Homeland_(TV_series))'', ''[Better Call Saul](/source/Better_Call_Saul)'', and ''[SS-GB](/source/SS-GB_(TV_series))''.
