The premiere took place on July 15, 1966, at [Philharmonic Hall](/source/David_Geffen_Hall), New York. The first City Ballet performance was on January 17, 1967, at [New York State Theater](/source/David_H._Koch_Theater), [Lincoln Center](/source/Lincoln_Center_for_the_Performing_Arts).
