**Rafik Guitane** (born 26 May 1999) is a professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as an [attacking midfielder](/source/Attacking_Midfielder) or [winger](/source/Winger_(association_football)) for [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga) club [Estoril Praia](/source/G.D._Estoril_Praia). Born in France, he plays for the [Algeria national team](/source/Algeria_national_football_team).

## Career

### Le Havre

Guitane signed his first professional contract with [Le Havre](/source/Le_Havre) on 21 July 2016 at the age of 17.[2] Guitane made his professional debut with Le Havre in a 4–0 [Coupe de France](/source/Coupe_de_France) win over [Saint-Colomban Locminé](/source/Saint-Colomban_Sportive_Locmin%C3%A9) on 4 December 2016.[3] He made his league debut on 19 September 2017 in a 1–0 home win against [FC Sochaux-Montbéliard](/source/FC_Sochaux-Montb%C3%A9liard).[4] His first professional goal came on 25 November, two minutes after coming off the bench in the 71st minute of a league game against [Lens](/source/RC_Lens). Cutting inside from the right, Guitane fired a shot past opposing goalkeeper [Jérémy Vachoux](/source/J%C3%A9r%C3%A9my_Vachoux) to secure a 1–0 victory.[5][6]

### Rennes

On 1 February 2018, Guitane was sold to [Rennes](/source/Stade_Rennais_F.C.) for €10 million. He however spent the rest of the season on loan with Le Havre.[7]

His first full season with Rennes, the [2018–19 season](/source/2018%E2%80%9319_Stade_Rennais_F.C._season), was spoiled by injury, as he [tore his anterior cruciate ligament](/source/Anterior_cruciate_ligament_injury) in October 2018.[8]

He returned to action in the [2019–20 season](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Stade_Rennais_F.C._season), and made his competitive debut for the club on 20 October 2019 in a 3–2 away loss to [Monaco](/source/AS_Monaco_FC), coming off the bench for [Hamari Traoré](/source/Hamari_Traor%C3%A9) in the 88th minute.[9] On 7 November, Guitane made his [UEFA Europa League](/source/UEFA_Europa_League) debut as a late substitute for [Benjamin Bourigeaud](/source/Benjamin_Bourigeaud) in a 1–0 loss to [CFR Cluj](/source/CFR_Cluj).[10][11] He finished the season with four total appearances, as he struggled to find playing time.[6]

#### Loan to Marítimo

On 12 August 2020, Guitane was sent on a one-season loan to [Primeira Liga](/source/Primeira_Liga) club [Marítimo](/source/C.S._Mar%C3%ADtimo).[12] He made his debut for the club on 20 September against [Santa Clara](/source/C.D._Santa_Clara), coming on as an 85th-minute substitute for [Pedro Pelágio](/source/Pedro_Pel%C3%A1gio).[13] He eventually managed to assert himself as a starter in the team, making 30 total appearances that season, as Marítimo finished 15th – just above the relegation spots.[6][14]

### Reims

On 30 August 2021, Guitane signed a permanent contract with [Reims](/source/Stade_de_Reims). He would, however, continue on loan with Marítimo for his second successive season.[5]

### Estoril

On 31 January 2023, Guitane returned to Portugal and joined [Estoril](/source/G.D._Estoril_Praia) on loan until the end of the 2022–23 season.[15]

On 23 July 2023, Estoril announced the permanent signing of Guitane for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder signed a three-year contract and was handed the club's number 10 shirt.[16] He was an important starter during the [2023-24 season](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_G.D._Estoril_Praia_season) as the club finished 13th in the league and reached the [2024 Taça da Liga final](/source/2024_Ta%C3%A7a_da_Liga_final) losing on penalties to [Braga](/source/S.C._Braga).

On 31 August 2024, [Braga](/source/S.C._Braga) signed Guitane on a season loan with an option to make the transfer permanent for a €5 million fee.[17] However, due to lack of game time he would return to Estoril on 1 January 2025.[18] He would play once again for the club 4 days later coming on as a substitute in the second-half against [Estrela da Amadora](/source/C.F._Estrela_da_Amadora) making an assist for the final goal in a 4–2 away win.

## International career

Guitane was born in France to an Algerian father and a Moroccan mother. He is eligible to play for the France, Algeria or Morocco national teams having previously represented France at youth international level.[19][20] He was called up to the [Algeria national team](/source/Algeria_national_football_team) for the [2025 FIFA Arab Cup](/source/2025_FIFA_Arab_Cup).[21]
