**Raesfeld** (German pronunciation: [\[ˈʁaːsfɛlt\]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/Standard_German)) is a [municipality](/source/Municipality) in the [district of Borken](/source/Borken_(district)) in the state of [North Rhine-Westphalia](/source/North_Rhine-Westphalia), [Germany](/source/Germany). It is located approximately 10 km south of [Borken](/source/Borken%2C_North_Rhine-Westphalia) and 30 km east of the [Dutch](/source/Netherlands) border.

Raesfeld's landmark is the [moated castle](/source/Raesfeld_Castle) [Schloss Raesfeld](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Schloss_Raesfeld&action=edit&redlink=1) [[de](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Raesfeld)], originally built in the 13th century and extended and remodeled in [Renaissance](/source/Renaissance_architecture) style in the 17th century. It is now primarily used by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia as a center for the teaching of [crafts](/source/Craft); the formal gardens have been lost, but the wildlife park has been restored and is part of the [European Garden Heritage Network](/source/European_Garden_Heritage_Network).

The municipality of Raesfeld includes [Erle](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Erle,_Raesfeld&action=edit&redlink=1) [[de](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erle_(Raesfeld))], a village within the [Naturpark Hohe Mark](/source/Naturpark_Hohe_Mark) that has an ancient [oak](/source/Quercus_robur), the [Femeiche](/source/Femeiche), thought to be 600–850 years old and named for [Vehmic court](/source/Vehmic_court) sessions formerly held under it.
