'''Radok Lake''' is a [meltwater](/source/meltwater) [lake](/source/lake) in [Antarctica](/source/Antarctica), {{convert|3|mi|spell=in}} southwest of [Beaver Lake](/source/Beaver_Lake_(Antarctica)) and {{convert|15|mi}} southeast of the [Aramis Range](/source/Aramis_Range), [Prince Charles Mountains](/source/Prince_Charles_Mountains). It is about {{convert|4|mi|spell=in}} long and marked by a slender [glacier](/source/glacier) tongue feeding into it from the west. It was plotted by Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions ([ANARE](/source/ANARE)) from air photos taken by the [RAAF Antarctic Flight](/source/Antarctic_Flight_RAAF) in 1956. The lake was named for Uwe Radok, Reader (head) of [Meteorology](/source/Meteorology) Department at the [University of Melbourne](/source/University_of_Melbourne), who greatly assisted [Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions](/source/Australian_National_Antarctic_Research_Expeditions) (ANARE)'s glaciological program.<ref>{{cite gnis|type=antarid|id=12299|name=Radok Lake|accessdate=2010-07-29}}</ref>

With a depth of {{convert|362|m}}, Radok Lake is the deepest known surface lake on the Antarctic continent<ref>[http://epic.awi.de/Publications/BerPolarforsch2003460.pdf The Expeditions Amery Oasis, East Antarctica, in 2001/02 and Taylor Valley, Southern Victoria Land, in 2002] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110724181052/http://epic.awi.de/Publications/BerPolarforsch2003460.pdf |date=2011-07-24 }}</ref> (whereas [Lake Vostok](/source/Lake_Vostok) is the continent's deepest [subglacial lake](/source/subglacial_lake)) and the only known [freshwater](/source/freshwater) lake to host a floating ice tongue glacier (the [Battye Glacier](/source/Battye_Glacier)).<ref>{{Cite web |url=http://www.aad.gov.au/default.asp?casid=2565 |title=The Amery Oasis, Northern Prince Charles Mountains |access-date=2010-07-29 |archive-date=2009-09-30 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090930182447/http://www.aad.gov.au/default.asp?casid=2565 |url-status=dead }}</ref> It is drained by {{convert|3|mi|km|adj=mid|-long|spell=in}} Pagodroma Gorge in to Beaver Lake. Radok Lake is an [isothermal](/source/Isothermal_process), non-stratified lake (i.e., a homogeneous water body).<ref>Wand U, Hermichen WD, Brüggemann E, Zierath R, Klokov VD. ''Stable isotope and hydrogeochemical studies of Beaver Lake and Radok Lake, MacRobertson Land, East Antarctica.'', Isotopes Environ Health Stud. 2011 Dec;47(4):407-14. https://doi.org/10.1080/10256016.2011.630465. Epub 2011 Nov 17.</ref>

Bainmedart Cove ({{Coord|70|51|S|68|3|E|source:GNIS}}) is a [cove](/source/cove) about {{convert|1|nmi|km|0}} long in eastern Radok Lake. The cove leads to the narrow Pagodroma Gorge. The name is a composite one made from the names of C. Bain, A. Medvecky, and J. Dart who spent a month at the cove studying the geology of the lakes area during the ANARE [Prince Charles Mountains](/source/Prince_Charles_Mountains) survey in January–February, 1969.

Pagodroma Gorge is a steep-sided [gorge](/source/gorge) 3 mi long which joins Radok and Beaver Lakes. Photographed from ANARE aircraft in 1956. The gorge was traveled by A. Medvecky, ANARE [geologist](/source/geologist) in January–February, 1969. Named by ANCA after the [snow petrels](/source/Snow_petrel) (''Pagodroma nivea'') which nest in the weathered [sandstone](/source/sandstone) walls of the gorge.<ref>{{cite gnis|type=antarid|id=11274|name=Pagodroma Gorge|accessdate=2010-07-30}}</ref>

Glossopteris Gully ({{coord|70|51|S|68|6|E|source:GNIS}}) is a steep-sided, narrow gully on the east side of Bainmedart Cove. It was named by ANCA after the ''[Glossopteris](/source/Glossopteris)'' fossil plant found in the upper part of the gully.

Fossil Wood Point ({{coord|70|50|S|68|2|E|source:GNIS}}) is a point of land between Bainmedart Cove and Radok Lake. It was so named because deposits of fossil wood were found on the point.
