'''Rabbit's Back''', also called ''Rabbit Back'', is an elevated [promontory](/source/promontory), or [peninsula](/source/peninsula), that extends eastward into [Lake Huron](/source/Lake_Huron). The promontory separates two shallow bays of the extreme northwestern coast of Lake Huron, [Evergreen Shores](/source/Moran_Township%2C_Michigan) to the south and [Horseshoe Bay](/source/Horseshoe_Bay_Wilderness) to the north. From nearby [Mackinac Island](/source/Mackinac_Island) the promontory is said to appear like the back of a crouching [rabbit](/source/rabbit), hence the name ''Rabbit's Back''. Like nearby [Castle Rock](/source/Castle_Rock_(Michigan)), the promontory is a somewhat erosion-resistant mass of [breccia](/source/breccia)ted Straits of Mackinac [limestone](/source/limestone).

The summit of the promontory is {{convert|696|ft|m|abbr=off|sp=us}} above sea level, and {{convert|115|ft|m|abbr=off|sp=us}} above the level of nearby Lake Huron. The promontory is located within [Hiawatha National Forest](/source/Hiawatha_National_Forest).
