**Reticulon-1** also known as **neuroendocrine-specific protein** (NSP) is a [protein](/source/Protein) that in humans is encoded by the *RTN1* [gene](/source/Gene).[5][6]

This gene belongs to the family of [reticulon](/source/Reticulon)-encoding genes. Reticulons are associated with the [endoplasmic reticulum](/source/Endoplasmic_reticulum), and are involved in neuroendocrine secretion or in membrane trafficking in neuroendocrine cells. [Alternatively spliced](/source/Alternative_splicing) transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. Multiple promoters rather than alternative splicing of internal exons seem to be involved in this diversity.[6]

## Interactions

RTN1 has been shown to [interact](/source/Protein-protein_interaction) with [BCL2-like 1](/source/BCL2-like_1_(gene))[7] and [UGCG](/source/UGCG).[8]
