The first recorded instance of RIHS playing in the top flight of Bhutanese football was in [2006](/source/2006_A-Division_(Bhutan)).<ref name="RSSSF2006">{{cite web|url=https://www.rsssf.org/tablesb/bhutan06.html|title=Bhutan 2006|last=Schöggl|first=Hans|date=2 Aug 2007|website=[RSSSF](/source/RSSSF)|publisher=[Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation](/source/Rec.Sport.Soccer_Statistics_Foundation)|accessdate=27 June 2014}}</ref> Details are lacking for this season and their final position is not known.<ref name="RSSSF2006" /> The only result that is known is a 4–1 loss to [Yeedzin](/source/Yeedzin_F.C.).<ref name="RSSSF2006" /> It is also not known how they came to be in the A-Division for that season. However, there are a number of results which are notable due to their high scores, both involving very heavy defeats for the Royal Institute of Health and Sciences team:

In the game between [Transport United](/source/Transport_United) and RIHS FC, [Passang Tshering](/source/Passang_Tshering) scored seventeen goals. Sources indicate that the most goals scored by a single player in a game was 16, scored by [Panagiotis Pontikos](/source/Panagiotis_Pontikos) of [Olympos Xylofagou](/source/Olympos_Xylofagou) against [SEK Ayios Athanasios](/source/SEK_Ayios_Athanasios) in May 2007 and by [Stephane Stanis](/source/Stephane_Stanis) for [RC Strasbourg](/source/RC_Strasbourg) in the 1940s.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/may/09/theknowledge.sport|title=The Knowledge&nbsp;– The highest scorer in one game of football|last=Duffin|first=Claire|last2=Lutz|first2=Tom|last3=Baldini|first3=Paolo|date=9 May 2007|website=www.theguardian.com|publisher=[Guardian Media Group](/source/Guardian_Media_Group)|accessdate=27 June 2014}}</ref> It would appear therefore, that Pontikos, having equalled a record that had stood for over 60 years, saw it broken only a few days later.
