==Early life==

== Career ==
In 1965, Ivy opened his Quinvy recording studio,<ref name=allmusic/> where he produced the [Percy Sledge](/source/Percy_Sledge) single "[When a Man Loves a Woman](/source/When_a_Man_Loves_a_Woman_(song))" which went to number one on the [Billboard charts](/source/Billboard_charts).<ref name="Campbell2008">{{cite book|last=Campbell|first=Michael|title=Rock and Roll: An Introduction|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=RK-JmVbv4OIC&pg=PA190|access-date=12 April 2013|year=2008|publisher=Cengage Learning|isbn=978-0-534-64295-2|page=190}}</ref>   He set up the Quinvy (independently distributed) and South Camp labels (distributed by [Atlantic Records](/source/Atlantic_Records)) before leaving the music business in the 1970s to gain an [MBA](/source/MBA) degree from [The University of Mississippi](/source/The_University_of_Mississippi).
