# Queen Elizabeth Ranges

The **Queen Elizabeth Ranges** is a group of [mountain ranges](/source/Mountain_range) in the [Canadian Rockies](/source/Canadian_Rockies) on the southeastern side of [Jasper National Park](/source/Jasper_National_Park), Canada. The northern end of the ranges begins east of [Medicine Lake](/source/Medicine_Lake_(Alberta)) and extends in a southeasterly direction past the southern shore of [Maligne Lake](/source/Maligne_Lake). The group was named in 1953 to celebrate the [coronation of Elizabeth II](/source/Coronation_of_Elizabeth_II) as [Canada's sovereign](/source/Monarchy_of_Canada).[1]
