# Queco Piña

**Sergio**"**Queco**"**Piña Cousillas** (born 17 July 1980) is a Spanish former [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [goalkeeper](/source/Goalkeeper_(association_football)).

In a 19-year senior career, he appeared in 84 [Segunda División](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n) matches over seven seasons, representing [Racing de Ferrol](/source/Racing_de_Ferrol), [Alicante](/source/Alicante_CF), [Ponferradina](/source/SD_Ponferradina), [Leganés](/source/CD_Legan%C3%A9s) and [Huesca](/source/SD_Huesca).

## Club career

Born in [A Coruña](/source/A_Coru%C3%B1a), [Galicia](/source/Galicia_(Spain)), Piña finished his youth career with [Deportivo de La Coruña](/source/Deportivo_de_La_Coru%C3%B1a), and made his senior debut while on loan to amateurs Sporting Meicende. He returned to the former in summer 1999, and was immediately assigned to [the reserves](/source/Deportivo_de_La_Coru%C3%B1a_B).

Piña signed with another [reserve team](/source/Reserve_team) in 2000, [Celta de Vigo B](/source/Celta_de_Vigo_B) of the [Segunda División B](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B). Two years later, he moved to [CD Ourense](/source/CD_Ourense) also in division three, being sparingly used in [his only season](/source/2002%E2%80%9303_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B). He then joined [Tercera División](/source/Tercera_Divisi%C3%B3n) team [CD Lalín](/source/CD_Lal%C3%ADn) in June 2003, where he won the [Ricardo Zamora Trophy](/source/Ricardo_Zamora_Trophy).

In July 2004, Piña signed for [Racing de Ferrol](/source/Racing_de_Ferrol). He played his first game as a professional on 12 March 2005, [replacing](/source/Substitute_(association_football)) the injured [Miguel Escalona](/source/Miguel_Escalona) in a 1–2 home loss against [RC Celta de Vigo](/source/RC_Celta_de_Vigo) in the [Segunda División](/source/Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n).[1] He was handed his first start on 12 June, in a home defeat to [Xerez CD](/source/Xerez_CD) (same score).[2]

Piña featured rarely for the *Diaños Verdes* in his first two seasons, suffering second-tier relegation in [the second](/source/2005%E2%80%9306_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), but started in the [2006–07](/source/2006%E2%80%9307_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n_B) and [2007–08 campaigns](/source/2007%E2%80%9308_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), the latter again spent in the second division.[3] On 1 September 2008 he joined [Alicante CF](/source/Alicante_CF) of the same league,[4] [being relegated in his first and only season](/source/2008%E2%80%9309_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n).

On 23 June 2010, after more than a year without a club, Piña signed a one-year deal with [SD Ponferradina](/source/SD_Ponferradina).[5] On 16 February of the following year he returned to Celta, again competing solely with the B side in the second tier.[6] On 15 April 2012, whilst at the service of the latter, he scored through a [goal kick](/source/Goal_kick) in a 2–2 home draw against [Rayo Vallecano B](/source/Rayo_Vallecano_B).[7]

On 29 December 2012, Piña moved to [Orihuela CF](/source/Orihuela_CF) also in division three.[8] On 9 January 2014 he joined another club in that league, [CD Leganés](/source/CD_Legan%C3%A9s).[9]

Piña achieved two promotions with the [Madrilenians](/source/Madrid); in [the last season](/source/2015%E2%80%9316_Segunda_Divisi%C3%B3n), however, he failed to appear in a single match, playing second-fiddle to [Jon Ander Serantes](/source/Jon_Ander_Serantes).[10] He was released after his contract expired in July 2016, and signed with [SD Huesca](/source/SD_Huesca) on 5 August.[11]

On 20 October 2017, Piña returned to Leganés as a goalkeeper coach.[12]

## Personal life

Piña's father, Ramón, was also a footballer. A defender, he played with Deportivo in the 70s/80s.[13]
