# Pyrgetos

**Pyrgetos** (Greek: Πυργετός) is a village in the [Larissa regional unit](/source/Larissa_(regional_unit)), [Thessaly](/source/Thessaly), [Greece](/source/Greece). It was the seat of the former municipality of [Kato Olympos](/source/Kato_Olympos), which has been part of the municipality of [Tempi](/source/Tempi_(municipality)) since 2011. Its elevation is 140 m.[1] In 2021 its population was 1,373.[2] It is located on the southeastern slopes of [Mount Olympus](/source/Mount_Olympus), 4 km east of [Rapsani](/source/Rapsani), 34 km northeast of [Larissa](/source/Larissa) and 40 km south of [Katerini](/source/Katerini). It is situated near the *Delta of [Pineios](/source/Pineios_(Thessaly))*, which is a protected area, part of the [Natura 2000](/source/Natura_2000) network.[3] Remains of a [Venetian](/source/Venetian_Republic) bridge are situated at the place Leivadi.
