# Puttemansia

***Puttemansia*** is a [genus](/source/Genus) in the [Tubeufiaceae](/source/Tubeufiaceae) family of [fungi](/source/Fungi).[1]

The genus name of *Puttemansia* is in honour of Arsène Puttemans (1873–1937), who was a Belgian-Brazilian [botanist](/source/Botanist) (mycology) and [plant pathologist](/source/Plant_pathologist), who taught [plant pathology](/source/Plant_pathology) (about plant diseases) between 1903 and 1910 at the [Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo](/source/Polytechnic_School_of_the_University_of_S%C3%A3o_Paulo).[2]

The genus was [circumscribed](/source/Circumscription_(taxonomy)) by [Paul Christoph Hennings](/source/Paul_Christoph_Hennings) in Hedwigia vol.41 (Issue 3) [104] on page 112 in 1902.
