***Puthiya Velicham*** (transl. New light) is a 1979 Indian [Malayalam](/source/Malayalam)-language film, directed by [Sreekumaran Thampi](/source/Sreekumaran_Thampi) and produced by [S. Kumar](/source/S._Kumar). The film stars [Jayan](/source/Jayan), [Jayabharathi](/source/Jayabharathi), [Srividya](/source/Srividya) and [Jagathy Sreekumar](/source/Jagathy_Sreekumar). It is a remake of the [Hindi](/source/Hindi) film *[Phool Aur Patthar](/source/Phool_Aur_Patthar)*.[1]
