***Purple Lilacs*** (Hungarian: ***Lila akác***) is a 1934 Hungarian [musical comedy film](/source/Musical_comedy_film) directed by [Steve Sekely](/source/Steve_Sekely) and starring [Irén Ágay](/source/Ir%C3%A9n_%C3%81gay), [Irén Biller](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ir%C3%A9n_Biller&action=edit&redlink=1) and [György Nagy](/source/Gy%C3%B6rgy_Nagy).[1][2] It was shot at the [Hunnia Studios](/source/Hunnia_Studios) in [Budapest](/source/Budapest). The film's sets were designed by the [art director](/source/Art_director) [Márton Vincze](/source/M%C3%A1rton_Vincze). It is based on the 1919 novel of the same title by [Ernő Szép](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ern%C5%91_Sz%C3%A9p&action=edit&redlink=1) [[de](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ern%C5%91_Sz%C3%A9p)] which was later remade as a 1973 film.[3]
