**Punga Mare** [/ˈpʌŋə/](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA/English)[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] is a [lake](/source/Lakes_of_Titan) in the north polar region of [Titan](/source/Titan_(moon)), the planet [Saturn](/source/Saturn)'s largest moon. After [Kraken Mare](/source/Kraken_Mare) and [Ligeia Mare](/source/Ligeia_Mare), it is the third largest known body of liquid on Titan.[1] It is composed of liquid [hydrocarbons](/source/Hydrocarbon) (mainly [methane](/source/Methane) and [ethane](/source/Ethane)). Located almost adjacent to the north pole at 85.1° N, 339.7° W, it measures roughly 380 km (236 mi) across,[1][note 1] greater than the length of [Lake Victoria](/source/Lake_Victoria) on [Earth](/source/Earth). Its surface area is ~61,000 km2 (23,522 sq. mi).[2] Its namesake is [Punga](/source/Punga_(mythology)), in [Māori](/source/M%C4%81ori_people) mythology ancestor of [sharks](/source/Shark), [rays](/source/Batoidea) and [lizards](/source/Lizard) and a son of [Tangaroa](/source/Tangaroa), the god of the sea.[1]
