'''''Punctelia digitata''''' is a species of [foliose lichen](/source/foliose_lichen) in the family [Parmeliaceae](/source/Parmeliaceae). Found in Brazil, it was [described](/source/species_description) as a new species in 2009 by lichenologists Patrícia Jungbluth, Marcello Marcelli, and [John Alan Elix](/source/John_Alan_Elix). The [holotype](/source/holotype) was collected  from [Itirapina](/source/Itirapina) municipality in [São Paulo State](/source/S%C3%A3o_Paulo_State). It was found growing on a tree trunk in a [cerrado](/source/cerrado) forest, at an altitude of {{convert|770|m|ft|abbr=on}}. The [thallus](/source/thallus) is greyish in colour, measuring {{convert|4.5|–|10|cm|in|abbr=on|0}}, comprising irregularly branched lobes with a width of {{convert|2|–|4|mm|in|abbr=on|2}}. The [specific epithet](/source/botanical_name) ''digitata'' ([Latin](/source/Latin) for "finger-like") refers to the characteristic shape of the [lacinule](/source/lacinule)s (vegetative [propagule](/source/propagule)s). The lichen contains trace amounts of [atranorin](/source/atranorin), and [lecanoric acid](/source/lecanoric_acid) as the main [secondary metabolite](/source/secondary_metabolite).<ref name="Marcelli  et al. 2009"/>
