***Pseudospatha tanganyicensis*** a [species](/source/Species) of [freshwater mussel](/source/Freshwater_mussel), an [aquatic](/source/Aquatic_animal) [bivalve](/source/Bivalve) [mollusk](/source/Mollusk) in the family [Unionidae](/source/Unionidae), the river mussels. It is the only species in the genus ***Pseudospatha***.[2]

This species is [endemic](/source/Endemism) to [Lake Tanganyika](/source/Lake_Tanganyika) where found in [Burundi](/source/Burundi), the [Democratic Republic of the Congo](/source/Democratic_Republic_of_the_Congo), [Tanzania](/source/List_of_non-marine_molluscs_of_Tanzania), and [Zambia](/source/Zambia).[1] It is common and widespread in the lake.[1]

*Pseudospatha* is one of three [monotypic](/source/Monotypic) genera of freshwater mussel that are endemic to Lake Tanganyika, the others being *[Brazzaea](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Brazzaea&action=edit&redlink=1)* and *[Grandidieria](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Grandidieria&action=edit&redlink=1)*.[2]
