***Pseudosagedia*** is a [genus](/source/Genus) of [corticolous](/source/Corticolous_lichen) (bark-dwelling) [lichens](/source/Lichen) in the family [Porinaceae](/source/Porinaceae).[2] It was first [circumscribed](/source/Circumscription_(taxonomy)) as a [section](/source/Section_(biology)) of genus *[Arthopyrenia](/source/Arthopyrenia)* by Swiss botanist [Johannes Müller Argoviensis](/source/Johannes_M%C3%BCller_Argoviensis) in 1862.[3] [Maurice Choisy](/source/Maurice_Choisy) elevated it to distinct generic status in 1949.[4] *Pseudosagedia* was little used until, in 1995, [Josef Hafellner](/source/Josef_Hafellner) and [Klaus Kalb](/source/Klaus_Kalb) resurrected the genus to contain members of the *Porina nitidula* [species group](/source/Species_group) with the perithecial pigment called Pseudosagedia-violet and lacking [setae](/source/Setae).[5]
