# Profidia

***Profidia*** is an [extinct](/source/Extinct) genus of [leaf beetles](/source/Leaf_beetle) in the subfamily [Eumolpinae](/source/Eumolpinae). It contains only one species, ***Profidia nitida***. It is known from [Oligo](/source/Oligocene)-[Miocene](/source/Miocene) [amber](/source/Amber) found near [Simojovel](/source/Simojovel) in [Chiapas](/source/Chiapas), [Mexico](/source/Mexico).

The species was described by American entomologist [Judson Linsley Gressitt](/source/Judson_Linsley_Gressitt) in 1963, using a single specimen (UCMP 12630) from the collections of the [University of California Museum of Paleontology](/source/University_of_California_Museum_of_Paleontology) in [Berkeley, California](/source/Berkeley,_California).
